I am really stuck on this, can someone please help me?
Jack’s bicycle designs has determined that when x hundred bicyles are built, the average cost per bicycle is given by
C(x) = 0.3x^2 – 0.7x + 1.21, where C (x) is in hundreds of dollars. How many bicycles should the shop build to minimize the average cost per bicycle?
To do this you will need to use calculus.
Find X such that the derivitive of C(X) is equal to zero
C’(x) = .6X -.7 = 0 ( this is the derivitive of C(X) set to 0)
.7 = .6X
7/6 = X
because X is in hundreds of bicycles you multiply by 100 to get 700/6
which is approximately 117
